Look Into Our First 6 Months Celebrating Our 50th Anniversary
Kensington Homes is halfway into celebrating our 50th anniversary in the home building industry. Since 1972 we have been the leaders in building strong, functional, and eye-catching homes throughout Winnipeg and surrounding areas. The industry has evolved immensely throughout the decades and Kensington Homes has evolved along with it.
In previous decades, everything was created by hand, from model renderings, to mechanical home drawings, to marketing pieces, and many other behind-the-scenes details when it comes to building a house and running a business. Today, home renderings are created digitally, homes are drafted using specialized programs, and marketing has expanded remarkably into so many different and exciting directions. And the future holds endless possibilities for us and the industry.
The first six months of 2022 have been filled with many celebratory moments. Kensington started by celebrating with existing homeowners by doing random draws from our homeowner database. Our team curated locally inspired gifts combined with a Kensington care package and offered it to the winners – DeLuca’s and Jones & Company Wine Merchants also donated gift packages to be given to winning homeowners.
The Kensington care package includes two CamelBak Insulated Tumblr mugs with the 50th logo, a Sherpa blanket with the 50th logo, and a custom exclusive scented candle from Farmer’s Son Co. These were also given as part of the move-in gift for all 2022 homeowners.
In March, Kensington had an open tab at Charito Bakery in Sage Creek for existing homeowners. The homeowners received an email to head down to Charito Bakery to get a coffee and pastry of their choice, on us.
Kensington also celebrated internally with office staff and on-site staff. Embroidered Tough Duck jackets with our 50th logo, Certified Master Builder logo, and Avid Survey logo was made for our site supervisors. Cutter & Buck golf shirts and toques were made for the entire team with the 50th logo as well as breathable t-shirts for the site employees featuring the 50th logo stamped in silver.
Kensington wanted to celebrate with not only our office staff but all office staff at the Qualico headquarters. We ordered custom cookies from Cassidy & Johanna’s Cake Boutique and put them at every floor’s coffee station along with large “50” balloons. There were three different styles of cookies – the Kensington Homes logo, the 50th logo, and an outline of our Prairiehaven home model – they were delish!
We wanted to extend the celebrations even further with all our on-site teams including site supervisors, laborers, and trade partners by hosting four different food trucks throughout the summer.
First up was Danny’s Whole Hog BBQ & Smokehouse where pulled pork sandwiches were served with potato salad, coleslaw, and beans. Next up were smashed burgers, chicken burgers, and deluxe tater tots from the delicious Tot Wheels food truck. Two more will be featured later this summer – stay tuned via social media!
Of course, we had to bring the celebrations to our show homes! We had custom door mats made featuring the 50th logo to greet every guest that toured our homes. We also converted all our show home signage to include “Celebrating 50 Years.” Stay tuned for more special treats in our show homes this fall for the 2022 Parade of Homes.
Our 50th-anniversary story was also shared in MHBA’s 85th anniversary magazine and soon in Manitoba Business & Trade magazine. We are incredibly excited to continue celebrating during the second half of 2022 and look forward to the future of Kensington Homes in the Manitoba home-building industry!
